Welcome to the Union Square Private Bakery Tour! During this tour, you will get to intimately know Union Square’s incredibly diverse bakery scene and vibrant community, which will help you better understand the trends and consumer behavior that shape the offerings and institutions of the neighborhood.


During the tour, we will visit the following:


  • Maprang Bakery & Café – A Thai-owned bakery that makes a variety of cakes, danishes, and croissants, as well as a wide range of coffee, tea, and lattes
  • Union Square Donuts – A donut shop that originated in Union Square and now has 6 locations around Boston, Somerville, and Cambridge
  • Yafa Bakery & Café – A Palestinian bakery with a wide range of sweet pastries and savory breads, as well as coffee and tea drinks
  • Bow Market – One of the great community hubs of Somerville, with about 30 different food, drink, art, and retail vendors
  • Himalayan Kitchen – Our lunch spot. Nepalese & Indian fusion comfort food


Coffee, tea, and other soft drinks are included on the tour. Alcohol is not included on the tour, but if you’d like to get a drink after the tour ends, I’ll gladly point you in the direction of some wonderful bars.

 

As a parting gift for joining the tour, you will receive a post-tour email covering my favorite places to visit, activities to enjoy, and local food & drink options while you're in the Boston area!

  • Where does the tour begin and end?

    The tour begins  in front of Vera's and ends at Himalayan Kitchen.

  • How much walking is there on the tour?

    There will be about 1.5 miles of walking, split up into about 2.5 - 3 hours before lunch. Due to the group size, eating at the bakeries will consist of standing antd a grab-and-go manner in addition to some sitting.

  • Is there transportation provided on the tour?

    This will be a walking tour.
